Discover Oaxaca's magical countryside on horseback. Mount our team of experienced horses and ride along ancient paths with exotic vistas in one of the world's most diverse ecosystems. Venture into a timeless way of life as we begin our ride through the cobblestone streets of Teotitlan that lead you up the foothills and into the backcountry. Excursions available for both accomplished and beginner riders.

Our Oaxaca Valley and Foothills Ride

Come & enjoy our week long riding adventure. After a hearty breakfast, head out every morning with your bilingual guide to explore the endless trails of Teotitlan's breathtaking countryside. Ride past ancient ruins and giant cacti, past colonial haciendas and agave plantations. Goat paths and oxen cart lanes lead you into the majestic foothills of the Sierra Norte Mountains.

After our half-day rides, return to Casa Sagrada for a lunch of freshly prepared Oaxacan cuisine. You can ride out again on 3 afternoons. On the other days think about an excursion to sites in the Oaxaca valley, or stay at Casa Sagrada for a massage, sauna or cooking class.

Our rides and horses are suitable for all levels. Non-riders are welcomed; we have plenty to keep them busy. For groups of 4 or more, we customize riding vacations or see our 2008 calendar for scheduled programs.

Burros and More!

Burros are more than little furry stuffed animals that carry things. They are part of our family at Casa Sagrada. Kids love them! Families and friends can enjoy a day in the countryside and our burros will carry the picnic lunch. For the energetic hiker, head into the hills with our pack-friends to collect firewood for our evening campfire.
